Windsor Public Library Leads the Way with Same-day Newspaper Service
Source: NewspaperDirect Official Release
Vancouver, BC, Canada: NewspaperDirect announced today that the Windsor Public Library will be the first Public Library in Ontario to offer its print-on-demand newspaper service. Windsor Public Library is installing the service this summer, in time for a formal launch in September.
The service will enable the Windsor Public Library to select from over 240 same-day edition newspapers from around the world and to tailor its collection for its Windsor and Detroit area patrons. Newspapers will be laser printed at the central library in 11"×17" (A3) format using industry standard equipment and the NewspaperDirect NDprintstation software. They will then be distributed daily to library branches throughout Windsor.
"NewspaperDirect will enable us to provide much better service to our multicultural communities," said Janet Woodbridge, Manager of Special Populations Services at Windsor Public Library. "Based on a recent survey of our population, we have identified several out-of-market titles that will be a welcome addition to out newspaper collection. NewspaperDirect not only makes these tiles affordable, but also available to us on the very day they are published."
"We are delighted to have Windsor Public Library using our service," said Richard Miller, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at NewspaperDirect. "We are very impressed by their commitment to enhancing their library services and by the way they are embracing new technology to do so."
Windsor Public Library joins NewspaperDirect's growing list of library clients that includes Vancouver Public Library, Ohio University Libraries and South Downs College in the UK. NewspaperDirect will be demonstrating its print and online systems at the ALA Annual Conference, June 26-29, 2004 in Orlando, Florida.
